Our editorial improvements cover this entire edition. Regarding Poland, we discovered a new type variation of the issue on the occasion of the 1966 Soccer World Cup, from which the colour orange is missing. The Polish local issues, being overprint stamps, are greatly at risk of being counterfeit, which is why we have added pertinent information to all cases that have become known so far.
Concerning issues from Ukraine, we also unearthed a new type variation of a soccer stamp. There is an imperforate variation of the UEFA issue of 2004. We also added the 2024 reprint of the “Municipal Coats of Arms“ postage stamp series. Furthermore, in this latest edition of the catalogue, we have started to list the correct Ukrainian and Belarusian proper names, as the transcription of Belarusian and Ukrainian previously followed the Russian versions of the names.
The revision and updating of all price quotations was another focal point. In Poland most postage stamps were only valid for a few months between 1945 and 1950. Accordingly, specimens cancelled during those years are hard to find. Naturally these show higher price quotations. The local issues from 1918/1919 also enjoy increasing values. The current war stamps issued by Ukraine are very much in demand as well, and Belarusian issues also show price increases, particularly the stamps issued in the 1990s, whose values have even doubled in many cases. This edition features all novelties listed in MICHEL Rundschau up to and including No. 10/2024.
