product description

CEPT 2025/2026

Content: The 2025/2026 CEPT is a new edition of the popular catalogue that features all European stamps issued by the members of the CEPT, respectively by PostEurop.

Description: The liberalization of the postal system led to the establishment of private postal companies, some of which issue postage stamps and transport mail on behalf of the government. Deutsche Post AG, for instance, is a member of both the Universal Postal Union (UPU) and PostEurop. PostEurop is an association of commercial enterprises, while the CEPT is now responsible for the international cooperation between government agencies regarding postal and telecommunications services. Since 1993 the joint issues have no longer been coordinated by the CEPT, but rather by PostEurop, which was established that same year.

This year, the theme of these joint issues is “Archaeological Discoveries”, depicting many treasures from history. Most of them are archaeological finds, such as the Celtic gold coins on the Slovakian stamp. Other issues showcase excavation sites or reconstructions, such as that of a prehistoric village on the Polish issue. The sheetlets from Portugal, including the Azores and Madeira, even offer additional information about the archaeological finds printed on the margin of the sheetlet. Readers interested in history are sure to enjoy exploring the 2025 Europa stamps.

Since the 2024 edition we have fundamentally revised the CEPT catalogue so as to continue to offer our readers all relevant information in a handy format. All other joint postal administrations as well as nominal members had to be excluded due to the fact that the large number of novelties per calendar year would have made the catalogue unusable. The 2025 joint issues alone take up more than ten pages. Therefore the focus of this catalogue is now on the Europa issues. In addition, their predecessors as well as the official stamps issued by France for the Council of Europe are still included in this catalogue.

At the request of many of our readers, we have reintroduced the value table listing the years of issue of the Europa stamps in this edition. Apart from its primary purpose of showing the price changes that occurred over the years, this table offers readers additional benefits. The common motifs described in the table provide a better overview of the number of years of issue which is quite large by now. By listing the number of collection areas that are included, it even indicates the historical development and the steadily growing number of members – from the modest beginnings with six issuing postal administrations in 1956 to the current figures.
