- Editorial improvements can be found throughout the whole edition. Since the end of 2023, the Danes have seen a significant change in mailing: old stamps – issued between the 1930s and last year – are only valid for foreign mail, whereas only stamps issued during this year can be used for in-country mail. We added a note in the section about the collection area of Denmark that pertains to this. Moreover, Queen Margrethe II abdicated on January 14th, 2024, and we updated the respective data of her life. Concerning the side area of Greenland, we noted the numbers of issue of another year, which have become known now. In 2020 the Postal Administration of Iceland officially stopped issuing new stamps, yet after a three-year pause a new block was issued on the occasion of “150 years of Icelandic stamps” that is too good to be missed. And we were finally able to identify and complement the 11-part UNESCO World Heritage series of Sweden in this year’s catalogue.
- The revision and updating of price quotations was another focal point. Several classic Danish stamps have seen increases in value. In this context, it is worthwhile to take a closer look at the type variation MiNo. 40 II Y. Specimens that have not been cancelled are listed for the first time – with five-digit price quotations. Besides price increases of classic stamps, Iceland has also seen remarkable auction results. Some five-digit prices have doubled.
- This edition features all novelties listed in MICHEL Rundschau up to and including No. 6/2024.
